Shadow Walk ? Dimension Door ? Those sound like very high level magic, something you would learn in fifth year or so. You’re only in second year, and your teachers have just started teaching you and your classmates actual spells. Your current spell repertoire is more “Matchstick” level.

You have been rooming with Cassie since you arrived at Chimaera High last year. She is in fifth year, and as a member of the Hellfang family, studies to become a full fledged demon hunter. She is also known throughout the school for having abysmal luck and being accident-prone, after a teleportation incident last year.
After rooming with her for a year and a half, you’re convinced her “bad luck” is the result of carelessness and lack of attention to detail, rather than actual bad luck. You’re the “tidy” part of the pair, really.

Cassandra’s outfit is an altered version of the Hellfang demon hunters’ uniform, that she had custom made. The regular version covers much more, but Cassandra had parts of “limited usefulness” removed to make the armor lighter and “maximize freedom of movement”.
You can’t really argue with that logic : her armor does look like she could belly-dance in it. However, it’s a good thing magical armor doesn’t need to cover a body part to protect it, or Cassandra’s outfit would be quite useless.
“Hey Cassie”, you greet her as you get in. “You’re ready to go ?”
“Yep, I’m all set. I can’t wait to be home – my uncle Bryce is going to teach me how to use a crossbow !” Cassie is almost bouncing in glee. “What about you ? Did you finally decide to go back home ?”
“Um… no, actually, I was planning on using the holidays to work on my classes in advance. I have some work to do for the Spellweaving class and…
Cassandra interrupts you. “Wha-bu-da-WHAAAAT ?! Again ? Are you really going to spend another holiday holed up in here, working ?”
First Elsa, now Cassie. Why is everybody finding that so weird ? “I’m not only going to work – I’ll spend some time in the library reading too.”
Cassie rolls her eyes. “Yeah, knowing you, you’ll also help Yume rearranging the shelves “for fun” too. I know studying is very important to you, and that ending up first in your class again this year is your dream goal… But there’s a reason they put holidays in the school year, A. You need to spend time with your family and friends, out of school, or you’re gonna burn out. You’ve already spent freaking Winter Solstice here too ! When was the last time you saw your dad ?”

On the matter of your dad, who is he and what does he do? It’s become clear earlier you admire him, so how come you don’t see him as often? Also, could you tell us something about demons?
You should definitely consider getting a set of armor like Cassandra’s. Never hurts to be prepared.

that uniform on the right is very impressive, on a variety of aesthetic and practical levels it works so well, big kudos as many artists get armor thats simple or pretty but rarely one that’s also practical in addition to pretty- that the character chose not to wear it nonwithstanding. however your ability to draw a male booty is lacking, you need to practice or find a way to avoid showing it by covering with something. please don’t stone me for suggesting covering up potentially delicious looking men, there’s so many ways that a well drawn man can be just as aesthetically pleasing as a finely shaped woman. to appease the anger i shall now bellydance in the hellfang armor
you haven’t learned how to use a crossbow yet? they are only slightly more complex then throwing a rock at someone. deadly effective, but largely because they’re easy to use. did you get much weapon training at all yet?
is demon hunting still a prominent and important activity or is this a largely traditional institution?

Hi Brunhidden. Yes, it’s a Fun Fantasy Fact that the skimpier the armour, the more protection it provides. I believe Terry Pratchett had one of his barbarians finding magical armour that gave near invincibility. Except that the armour was a tiny chain-mail bikini, and the barbarian a guy. And he used it. I seem to remember cover art, although maybe my memory is more corrupted than normal.
Ethan – excellent art work. I like the way you are drawing the expressions and body language. And the audience participation is an interesting twist. Definitely a comic to keep following!
So Demons? If there are hunters, I’m guessing they aren’t friendly (the demons, that is).
Cassandra’s “bad luck” is sourced to a “teleportation accident”? Any other details on that? She obviously didn’t phase with an object (no missing bits that I can see), so I guess there was an elevation problem, and she landed on her head?
maybe she passed through some tainted energy fields or something? or teleported by a cursed object

A thought occurs to me; between your friend who went flying around nude, another one who had no problem setting you up for pelvic sorcery 101, casandra’s calendar, your abstinence and your seemingly utter dedication to work over having fun, is it possible that your dreams could be your subconsious telling you to relax and have some fun?
Maybe its because you want to Increase the broad range of magic spells to help in combat matches and some… Personal Problems.

So much well-meant advice from your friends; you’re quite fortunate to have the support of people who so obviously care about you and your happiness! Even if they do tend to advise you to do the things that make them happy instead of the things that you find make you happy. So, may I offer a counter-balancing viewpoint?
As a student wizard, I’m sure you’ve heard the expression “knowledge is power” a time or few. …dozen. Some of the most powerful knowledge there is, is knowledge of oneself. If organizing shelves is fun to you, then, by all means, indulge in such fun. Read. Pursue your goal of staying first in your class standing. Play to your strengths, Alice; therein, you will find your own path to success and, with it, to a calm, abiding comfort in being the rather unique and special person you are.
Time to get a move on! The library will be closed before you get there if you don’t hurry up!

She has a point. While keeping busy and on top of your school work is good. Honestly, its always good to take a break and relax. The last thing you want to do is burn yourself out, plus you do have the matter of that dream problem to deal with. That said, would going to see your Dad once be so bad? Or do you both not really see eye to eye?

Additionally, Cassie and Elsa have a point; constantly working will burn you out. What do you do for fun?
